NELSON.

Dear Bee. October 18. Nelson is looking perfectly lovely in its spring garb. The fruit trees are all laden with blossom, and from the quantities on the treesa plentiful fruit season ought to be the result. At the theatre during the performances of the POLLARD OPERA COMPANY were Mr and Mrs Pitt, Mr and Mrs A. Glasgow. Mr and Mrs Trask, Mr and Mrs T. Glasgow, Mrs and Miss Mcßae (Richmond), Mrs Bunny, Mrs and Miss Mackay, Mr and Mrs J. Sharp, Mr and Mrs R. Kingdom Miss Pitt (two). Miss Curtis. Mr and Mrs Preshaw, Mrs Leggatt, Mr and Misses Macdonald (two), Mr and Mrs Scaife, Miss Catley, Miss Tendall, Miss Morgan, Miss Gribben, etc. AT MR AND MRS FELLS MUSICALE there were present Mr and Mrs Sclanders. the Bishop and Mrs Mules, Mrs Houlker, Rev. Mr and Mrs Chatterton, Mr and Mrs Arthur Atkinson, Rev. Mr and Mrs Kempthorne, Mrs and Miss W. Atkinson, Mrs and Miss Jackson, Miss A. Atkinson, Miss Mules, Miss Hursthouse, Mr Joynt, Herr Balling, etc. OUR PEOPLE. Nelsonians will have a great loss next week in the departure of Mr and Mrs Jim Wood for Christchurch How athletics generally will progress without Mr Wood we don’t care to think of. He will be missed in all ways, being an excellent cricketer and tennis player, and a clever sportsman, and then he possesses the energy requisite to back all these up. He and his wife both have made many friends, who will greatly regret their departure, and all we can do now is to hope that they will be successful in their new home and occasionally visit their old friends. ‘ Melrose’ is to be closed for a time and Mrs Watts leaves tomorrow for India, where she is to pay a long-promised visit to her daughter and son in-law. Mr and Mrs Sweet. Mrs Watts is a kind and hospitable hostess, and her house was always open to her friends. Her absence, therefore, will leave a blank in Nelson society not easily filled. Phyllis.
