RESIDENTIAL CLUB FOR NURSES

A residential club for members of the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Trained Nurses' Association is to be erected shortly, at the corner of Mountain Road and Seccombe's Road, Epsom. The plans have been prepared by Mr. H. Clinton Savage, and the tender of Mr. J. J. Holland, of £2,938 has been accepted for the work. The building will be used purely for residential purposes, so that the nurses can live together, and if their seivices are required by a doctor they can be communicated with at once. The club building will be a two-storeyed structure and the lower storey will have a rubble stone base, the walls being constructed of red, pressed bricks. This portion will comprise a large reception hall, dining-room, six bedrooms, telephone-room matron's sitting-room, bathrooms, etc. The upper storey will be finished m rough cast, and will have a slate-coloured roof. There will be 17 bedrooms upstairs, and a pantry, besides bathrooms, etc. There will also be 140 ft. of verandah and balcony space. The whole of the interior of the building will be finished m laths and plaster, and will be lighted by electricity.
