HOSPITAL NOTES

Miss Orr (Lady Superintendent) and the Junior Resident Doctors gave a most enjoyable evening at the Nurses' Home, on February 13th, to Dr. Maguire and the five Sisters who have been accepted for active service. The evening took the form of a social gathering ; a brilliant musical programme being rendered by members of the staff and friends. The honorary doctors and their wives, also board members were present ; the guests being entertained at the residence of the Junior Doctors, at supper. The

tables were beautifully decorated with flowers and ribbons of the National colours. After supper a brilliant and altogether pleasant evening was concluded by dancing and the singing of ' They are jolly good fellows," "Auld Lang Syne," and "God Save the King." $ $ ♦ ♦ # ♦ On Saturday, sth March, the nursing staff of the Auckland Hospital gave a most delightful fancy-dress evening to the five Sisters who are to be sent Home for active service duty, m which Matron, Sisters, and Nurses participated. The costumes were varied ; some very pretty ; others grotesque, a few being quite original. Dancing was interspersed with musical items given by the staff. The supper-tables were tastefully decorated with red and white. Miss Orr made a presentation from the staff of a handsome hold-all to each of the five Sisters, and a most enjoyable evening was terminated by the singing of "Auld Lang Syne," "For they are jol y good fellows," " It's a long way to Tipperary," and " God Save the King." ****** Nurses who will be promoted to do the work of the five Sisters going to the war : — Nurse Pearl Murray j Just finished four J.
