Part of a settlement for ex-servicemen of the previous war—adjustments will be made to make remaining sections economic. 1,609 acres being farmed, 1,359 acres leased temporarily to adjoining owners pending adjustment of boundaries. Tora, at Southern Wairarapa, 17,183 acres. Acquired : March, 1950. Objective : Ten sheepfarms for allotment —five June, 1950, and balance 1951. Development Programme: 1,300 chains fencing, 600 chains repair fencing, five houses, eight implement-sheds, three wool-sheds, one cottage to renovate, one cottage and part one house to be moved, eight sets sheep-yards, ten stock-dams, 180 chains roading, 320 chains tracks, water-supply for houses. Progress : 400 chains fencing and 160 chains farm tracks carried out prior to possession date. Tunatau, at Mangaweka, 1,413 acres. Acquired: April, 1949. Objective : One sheep-farm for allotment April, 1950. Development Programme: 10 chains fence, 177 chains repair fencing, 10 acres stumped and cultivated, power reticulation, one stock-crossing. Progress : Completed. Ex-serviceman manager with promise of section. TuraJcina, at Turakina, 249 acres. Acquired: April, 1946. Objective : Two mixed units for allotment July, 1948, and 7 acres as domain. Development Programme : 25 chains open drains, 150 acres mole drained, 50 acres gorse grubbed, 300 chains fencing, one house, two cow-sheds, one implement-shed, one house renovated, two dams and reticulation of water. Objective : Three sheep (fat-lamb) farms for allotment, 1951. Development Programme : 50 chains drains, 100 acres to be stumped •and grassed, 300 chains fencing, two houses, two implement sheds, 60 chains roading. Progress : Subdivision not yet schemed, fencing materials being assembled. Ex-serviceman manager with promise of a section. Wainuioru, at Masterton, 5,464 acres. Acquired: 5,436 acres in March and July, 1946, and 28 acres June, 1949. Objective : Seven sheep-farms—two for allotment July, 1948, three for allotment April, 1949, one for allotment July, 1949, and one for allotment April, 1950. Development Programme : 850 chains fences, 355 chains repair fences, six houses, three implement-sheds, three wool-sheds, six sets yards, 4 miles roads, six stock-dams, shearers' quarters to be dismantled, 220 ■chains to be netted. Progress : 355 chains fence, 220 chains fencing repaired, two houses and two implement-sheds completed, one wool-shed completed, six sets yards, 2 miles of road completed and 2 miles under construction.
