Progress : Cultivation programme complete—Bo acres cleared and grassed and 250 acres reconditioned. Development Programme : Longterm development project involving extensive clearing and grassing, fencing, buildings, and watersupplies. Progress : 3,400 acres cleared and grassed, 800 chains new fencing, seven water-supply bores drilled. Work has commenced on erection of six sets of farm buildings. Edgecumbe, at Edgecumbe, 7,308 acres. Acquired : August, 1936. Objective: Utilization and subdivision not yet finally schemed. Development Programme : Long-term development project involving re-establishment of pastures badly reverted owing to lack of fertilizer during the war years. Progress : Development has been confined in the main to re-establishing pastures, fencing to allow adequate stocking, and reticulating areas which were without water. No settlement will be possible until 1952 at least. Fairview, at Waimana, 1,978 acres. Acquired: June, 1945. Objective: Two dairy-farms for allotment July, 1950, and two sheep-farms for allotment July, 1952. Development Programme : Grassing, fencing, buildings, roading, and water-supplies. Progress : 300 chains new fencing, 200 chains fencing, re-erected, access road formed, and work started on two sets of farm buildings. Pastures on sheep country are being reconditioned with heavy stocking, oversowing, and top-dressing. Exserviceman share-milker employed with promise of a dairy section.
