Crosland, at Helensville, 3,170 acres. Acquired : April, 1947. Objective: Five dairy and two sheep units. Dairy units allotted August, 1949, and sheep units in 1950. Development Programme (on sheep units) : 105 acres clearing, cultivation, and grassing, 200 chains new fencing, 221 chains renovations to fences, new house and implement-shed, sheep-yards. Progress : Completed except sheep-yards. Five ex-servicemen established on dairy units on fixed charges August, 1949. An amputee ex-serviceman has the promise of one sheep unit. Dargaville, at Dargaville, 237 acres. Acquired: May, 1948. Objective : Two dairy units for allotment July, 1949. Progress : Development completed with exception of renovations to one dwelling. Two ex-servicemen settled July, 1949. Glorit, at Kaipara Harbour, 206 acres. Acquired: January, 1949. Objective : Run-off area. Development Programme : 283 chains fencing renewal, 50 acres surface sowing, 40 chains drains, renovate cottage and implement-shed, water-supply. Progress : 95 chains fence renewal, cottage renovated. Hakaru, at Kaiwaka, 981 acres. Acquired: 86 acres October, 1949, and balance (terminated Crown leases) March, 1950. Objective : Not finalized, as further land being acquired for amalgamation with this block. Development Programme (on 86 acres): Clearing, cultivating, and grassing about 80 acres. Programme for balance not yet planned, as other areas will be acquired for amalgamation with this block. Progress : A contract has been let for clearing and ploughing an area of 80 acres. Harrison's, at Kaiwaka, 140 acres. Acquired : July, 1949. Objective : 1 dairy unit for settlement July, 1951. Development Programme: Draining 40 chains, stumping 15 acres, clearing, cultivating, and grassing 130 acres, new fences 336 chains, complete set new buildings, water-supply. Progress : 15 acres stumped and 130 acres cleared, cultivated, and brought to seed-bed. Henry's, at Patumahoe, 210 acres. Acquired: June, 1948. Objective: One dairy unit of 140 acres for allotment July, 1949, balance to be disposed of to adjoining ex-servicemen and part reserved (bush). Development Programme : 60 chains new fencing, new house and implement-shed, extension to water-supply. Progress: Development work completed. Ex-serviceman on wages with promise. Hillcrest, at Waikiekie, 661 acres. Acquired : June, 1944. Subdivision not finalized. Development Programme (tentative) : 100 acres clearing and grassing, 120 chains new fencing, 35 chains fence repairs, water-supply, 20 chains farm tracks. Progress : Work on this block has been confined mainly to general farm maintenance, stock husbandry, and milking pending decision re subdivision, which necessitated prolonged investigation in connection with water-supply, and the possible acquisition of adjoining unimproved land. An ex-serviceman has been employed as a share-milker for a number of seasons. Hungerfords, at Waiuku, 127 acres. Acquired: May, 1948. Objective: One dairy unit for allotment July, 1950. Development Programme : 15 acres stumping, 40 acres clearing, cultivation, 30 acres to grass, 10 acres to crop, renovation 40 acres pasture, 60 chains new fences, 195 chains fence repairs, erection complete set new buildings, water-supply, 1,000 shelter-trees. Progress : All development work completed with exception 18 chains new fencing, 40 chains fence repairs, and erection of dwelling and piggeries. One ex-serviceman on wages with promise. Kaitaia, at Kaitaia, 2,305 acres. Acquired : April, 1934. Objective : Utilization dependent on outcome of major drainage scheme. Development Programme (tentative) : 140 acres grassing, 117 chains new fences and 65 chains repairs, extension of water-supply. Progress : Above work planned for 1950-51. Eight civilian milkers have been employed for a number of years.
