No. 281/1926. —Petition of Hirini Waiti and 4 Others. Praying that the Native Land Court may be empowered to investigate their claims to Mangahauini Nos. 9 and 10 Blocks. I am directed to report that the Committee is of opinion this petition should be referred to the Government for inquiry. 25th November, 1927. Special Report. I have the honour to report that at its final meeting the Native Affairs Committee passed the following resolution :— Resolved, " That the Committee desires to place on record its high appreciation of the able and courteous manner in which the Chairman, the Honourable Sir Apirana Ngata, has conducted the business of the Committee, and that the resolution be recorded in the minutes and reported to the House." 25th November, 1927. [Translation.] Ripoata Motuhake. Kua whakahaua ahau kia ripoata i te hui whakamutunga o te Komiti mo nga Mea Maori i paahitia te motini e whai ake nei : Motini, " E hiahia ana te Komiti kia tuhia ki roto ki nga pukapuka tana mihi nui mo te mohio me te humarie o te whakahaere a te Tiamana, a te Honore Ta Apirana Ngata, i nga mahi ate Komiti, a kia tuhia tenei motini ki roto ki nga meneti, a kia ripoatatia atu kite Whare." 25 o Noema, 1927.

Special Report. I am directed to report that at its final meeting the Native Affairs Committee passed the following resolution, viz., — Resolved, " That the Committee desires to place on record its appreciation of the services of its Clerk, Mr. J. B. Hackworth, and that a vote of thanks be recorded in the minutes, and this resolution reported to the House." 25th November, 1927. [Translation.] Ripoata Motuhake. Final Retort. I have the honour to report that the Native Affairs Committee hold its final meeting to-day (25th November). During the session the Committee held thirty-one meetings, the average attendance at each meeting being eight. Including eighteen petitions brought forward from last session, the Committee had before it eighty-one petitions ; of these seventy-four were dealt with and reported upon, the remaining eight, are unavoidably held over (see schedule). The Native Land Amendment and Native Land Claims Adjustment Bill was fully considered and reported on. Nine parliamentary papers were considered and reported on. 25th November, 1927.
