Smith allowed his right hand to get under the travelling-platform. where it was bruised and cut. Thomas's left hand was caught in the cog-wheel and crushed. necessitating amputation of the thumb and forefinger. Townsley's overalls were caught under the drill and he w-as dragged against the machine, causing bruises to side and arm. Daisley's hand came in contact with the knives, injuring his thumb and first finger. Holland was attending to material in bins when his foot slipped. His coat was caught in the gearing of the elevator and his right arm was cut. When cutting a batten, a piece of wood came back over the saw and struck McQuoid on the thigh, bruising it. Pope allowed his right hand to go too far into the machine, when the point of the second finger w-as cut off. When brushing away shavings from the machine while it was in motion Walker's right hand came into contact with the knives. He lost the thumb and the first two fingers of his hand. In shovelling sawdust from the saw Phipps allowed his right hand to touch the saw, when he lost three of his fingers. Haggitt tried to lift a piece of dough out of the cogs with his left hand, when his thumb was caught in the cogs, taking the top off it. Stevenson's right hand came into contact with the knives, when he lost the first finger at first joint; the second finger was lacerated. Sumner's right hand was caught between the chuck and the rest. doing injury to nail of one finger and cutting another. Greenbank s right hand came into contact with the knives of the machine. His hand was so badly lacerated that it had to be amputated. Miss Sloan unconsciously put her foot on pedal, reversing the machine. Her hand was carried under the rollers, when threefingers were crushed. The piece of timber Doublfdry was shaping slipped, when his thumb came against cutter and took a piece off it. Alexander accidentally put his finger under the knife, when he got the top taken off. In getting down from machine Costello's right hand slipped, and it came into contact with the wheel, causing injury to one finger. Newburn was oiling the bearings of the shaft, when the engine started, and his clothing was caught by the shaft. He was swung round and his feet struck the beams overhead. Both of his feet were torn off. i Alp was connecting a long length of iron pipe above the revolving shaft, when he lost his hold and fell on the shaft. He was caught and wound round. When the motor was stopped he fell 18 ft. to the floor. Both legs and shoulders were fractured, and he also suffered severe shock. While Williams was working the machine the emery-wheel broke, and one of the flying fragments struck him on the side of his head, causing semi-fracture.
