Notk. —The amount stated in this return as ihe cost of construction of opened lines includes the Provincial and General Government expenditure on railways. It also includes the Midland Railway and expenditure by the Greymouth and Westport Harbour Hoards on railways and wharvos under the provisions of sect.on 7of the Railways Authoi-isar.io . Act, 18-5, the information regarding the last mentioned being furni-hed by the resp ctive Bards.
