Proposed operations for ensuing year : Erecting new gate and attending to fences. Ashburton Domain. Area, 89 acres 1 rood 24 perches, situated in the Town of Ashburton. Work done during year : Grounds maintained, and new flower-beds and gardens formed. A new horse lawn-mower was purchased during the year. Improvements now on domain : Four miles ami a half fencing, curator's lodge, propagating-house, pavilion and stand in sportsground, shadehouse, tool-house, bathing and other sheds, three asphalt and nine grass tenniscourts, meteorological station, tennis and bowling pavilions, water-supply with tanks, stand, water-wheel, and pipes, asphalt cycling-track, cricket-ground, croquet and bowling greens, lakes, rosery, plantation, flower-gardens, and wood, iron, and stone gates. The domain is used for all purposes of recreation, and is visited by picnic parties from various parts of Canterbury.
