Section VI. Write an essay on one of the following subjects :— (a.) Infant training : its necessity and importance. (b.) The aims and methods of nature study: what to teach and how to teach it. (c.) The advantages of physical training, and the best forms of physical exercise. [The essay should cover not more than two pages of foolscap.]

Vocal Music. — For Classes D and E. Time allowed: Three hours. 1. On the treble staff write the scale of G minor (melodic form) ascending and descending. Under each note place the staff and sol-fa names. 2. In both notations give examples of a major seventh, a minor sixth, an augmented fourth, a diminished fifth. All to be taken from the scale of E major. 3. Write four short exercises to illustrate the effect of the seventh note of the major scale. 4. In what keys are the following passages?—
