No. 1. PROGRESS REPORT OF THE WAR MEDAL-COMMISSIONER. To His Excellency Sir G-eokge Feegitson Bowen, G-.C.M.Gr., &c, &c, &c. Mat it please Your Excellency,— In accordance with the instructions conveyed by the Commission of the Ist July, 1871, I have now the honor to forward herewith, Eolls marked A, B, and C respectively, containing the names of officers and men who have served in the Colonial Forces, and whose claims to the New Zealand War Medal have been approved of by me since the publication of our last Report. On Eoll marked A are the names of those applicants who are entitled to receive the War Medal for services performed prior to the 31st December, 1866. On Eoll marked B are the names of the officers and men entitled to receive the Medal for services rendered at a subsequent date. Eoll marked C contains the names of deceased officers and men of the Colonial Forces, whose relatives have claimed the Medal to which they would have been entitled, and whose claims I have admitted.
