No. 2. Copy of a Letter from Dr. Knight to Mr. "VV. Gjsboexe. Sib,— Wellington, sth March, 1866. I have the honor to forward, for the information of the Colonial Secretary, the copy of a resolution of the Loan Allocation Commission, suggesting that they might conveniently extend their Eeport to a later period than the 30th June, ISGG. Resolved, — That, whereas on examination of the Loan Allocation Act, and of the Commission issued thereon, the Commissioners are of opinion that their powers extend to the investigation of the accounts as at the 30th Juuo last, but not to any later date; and as a lteport on such investigation only must be manifestly most imperfect, the President be requested to ascertain from the Colonial Secretary whether the Government desires a Supplementary Bejjort, bringing the accounts down to the latest dates.
