Extracts from the Journals of the House of Representatives Wednesday* the 16th Day of July, 1947 Ordered, " That a Select Committee be appointed, consisting of nine members, to consider all Bills or other matters relating to labour which may be referred to it: the Committee to consist of Mr. Chapman, the Hon. Mr. Hackett, Mr. McAlpine, Mr. Marshall, Mr. Mathison, Mr. T. E. Skinner, Mr. Sheat, Mr. Sullivan, and the Mover."—(Hon. Mr. McLagan.) Ordered, " That all petitions not finally dealt with during the session of 1946 be again referred to the same Committees as they were referred .to during the said session."—(Right Hon. Mr. Fraser.) Wednesday, the 30th Day of July, 1947 Ordered, " That the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Amendment Bill be referred to the Labour Bills Committee."—(Hon. Mr. McLagan.) Wednesday, the 29th Day of October, 1947 Ordered, " That the Workers' Compensation Amendment Bill be referred to the Labour Bills Committee." —(Right Hon. Mr. Eraser, for the Hon. Mr. McLagan.) Thursday, the 6th Day of November, 1947 Ordered, " That the Labour Bills Committee have leave to sit during the present sitting of the -House."—(Mr. Chapman.)

REPORTS Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Amendment Bill I have the honour to report that the Labour Bills Committee has carefully considered the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Amendment Bill, and recommends that the Bill be allowed to proceed with the amendments shown on the copy of the Bill heretoattached. 28th August, 1947. No. 72/1946. —Petition of G. Finlayson and Others, of Christchurch Praying for participation in the profits of the stevedoring contract in Lyttelton. I have the honour to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 3rd September, 1947. No. 43.—Petition of E. Howells, of 2 Burns Avenue, Takapuna, and Others Praying for exemption from the provisions of section 39 of the Factories Act, 1946. I have the honour to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make.. 24th September, 1947. No. 12.—Petition of C. B. Carter, of Hill Eoad, Belmont Praying for compensation for alleged effect on his health of a mishap during his employment. L have the honour to report that the Labour Bills Committee has carefully considered this petition, and recommends that it be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 17th October, 1947. Workers' Compensation Amendment Bill I am directed to report that the Labour Bills Committee has carefully considered the Workers' Compensation Amendment Bill, and recommends that it be allowed to proceedwith the amendments shown on the copy of the Bill hereto attached.
