ORDERS OF REFERENCE Extracts fromi the Journals of the House of Representatives Thursday, the 16th Day or March, 1944 Ordered, " That for the remainder of the session all Select Committees of the House have leave to sit on days on which the House is not sitting." —(Right Eton. Mr. Eraser.) Wednesday, the 22nd Day of March, 1944 Ordered, " That a Select Committee be appointed, consisting of ten members, to consider all matters in connection with defence which may be referred to it: the Committee to consist of Mr. Anderton, Mr. P. Carr, Mr. Connolly, Mr. Ilarker, Mr. Macdonald, Mr. Macfarlane,. Mr. Osborne, Mr. Roy, Mr. Sim, and the Mover."—(Hon. Mr. Jones.) Thursday, the 23rd Day of March, 1944 Ordered, "That all petitions not finally dealt with during the session of 1942-43 be again referred to the same Committees as they were referred to during the said session." —(Right Hon. Mr. Fraser.)
REPORTS No. 13/1942. —Petition of H. G. Kay, of 28 Record Street, Fitzroy Praying that he be granted a full military war pension in lien of war veteran's allowance or other permanent allowance equivalent thereto. I am directed to report that, as the petitioner is now deceased, and the widow having been granted a full pension, and the member in charge of the petition last session having expressed a desire to withdraw same, the Committee recommends the House to direct that the petition be so withdrawn. •18th August, 1944.
No. 84/1943. —Petition of Mary Kate I)avies, of 8 Cleveland Street, Brooklyn Praying for compensation on account of the death of her son while serving with the R.N.Z.A.F. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 18th August, L 944.
N O . 14.—Petition of G. A. B. Love,toy and Violet A, R. Lovejoy, of 51 Stanley Avenue, Falmerston North Praying for compensation for the death of their son on military service. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for consideration. 18th August, 1944.

Shortal, of 38 Pox Street, InvercarglU Praying for inquiry into the circumstances surrounding his discharge from the New Zealand Permanent Military Forces, and for compensation. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for most favourable consideration. 4th October, 1944.

Henderson, of "Wellington, and 3,122 Others Praying for an inquiry into certain obligations for military service.
