There were 178 candidates (including bursary candidates) for the Entrance Scholarship Examination, 36 gaining scholarships, 68§ others passing the examination with credit, and 29 qualifying for University Entrance. The number of entrants for the University Entrance Examination was 5,152 of whom 2,623 passed the examination. 294 candidates entered the University Entrance Examination to gain a further qualification, and of these 213 passed. Total number of entrants for all examinations, inoluding accountancy, 6,757, of whom 677 were absent (accountancy, 1,647 entered, 283 absent). * Including two in Honours. f Including one in Honours.
