Laid on the Table of the House of Representatives ORDERS OF REFERENCE Extracts from the Journals of the House of Representatives Thursday, the 4th Day of March, 1943 Ordered, " That a Select Committee be appointed, consisting, by leave, of twelve members, to consider all matters in connection with defence which may be referred to it: the Committee to consist of Mr. Anderton, Mr. P. Carr, the Right Hon. Mr. Coates, Mr. Cullen, Mr. Dickie, Mr. Frost, Mr. Lee, Mr! Lovvry, Mr. Osborne, Mr. Roy, Mr. Schramm, and the Mover." —(Right Hon. Mr. Fraser, tor the Hon. Mr. Jones.) Friday, the sth Day of March, 1943 Ordered, "That all petitions not finally dealt with during the session of 1941-42 be again referred to the same Committees as they were referred to during the said session." (Right Hon. Mr. Fraser.) THURSDAY, THE 20TH DAY OF MAY, 1943 Ordered, " That Select Committees have leave to sit for the remainder of the session on days on which the House does not meet."—(Right Hon. Mr. Fraser.)

REPORTS No. 2.—Petition of Edith M. Bailey, of Napier Praying for the restoration of certain maintenance payments. I have the honour to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for most favourable consideration. 12th March, 1943.

No. 4— Petition of Ivy G. Parkek, of New Plymouth Praying that she be granted a war pension. I have the honour to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 2nd July, 1943.

No. 42/1942.—Petition of W. J. Geard, of Auckland Praying for an allowance on account of the death of his son while undergoing military tyflin ITIO 1 I have the honour to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for consideration, with the further recommendation that the petitioner or his wife be advised to apply to the War Pensions Board for a war pension. 2nd July, 1943.

No. 8. —Petition of A. H. Collin, of Wellington Praying for relief in respect of the accidental death of his son as a result of colliding with a tank-trap. I have the honour to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 2nd July, 1943.

No. 12.—Petition of A. Dawson, of Palmerston North Praying for the restoration of a war pension. I have the honour to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 2nd July, 1943.

No. 49.—Petition of N. Forbes, of'Palmerston North Praying that he be granted full military pay until discharged from the Army. I have the honour to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 28th July, 1943.

No. 57.—Petition of P. F. Toomey, of Bay of Plenty Praying for re-instatement of war pension, and other relief. I have the honour to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 19th August, 1943.

No. 56. —Petition of P. H. Reyes, of Feilding Praying for payment of the sum of £5,000 for drawings, ideas, and suggestions submitted to the Army Inventions Board. I have the honour to report that the member presenting the petition having requested permission to withdraw it, the Committee recommends that he be allowed to do so. 25th August, 1943. P. L.
