REPORTS.

Commercial Trusts Amendment Bill. I have the honour to report that, owing to the large volume of evidence which was tendered to the Committee and the limited time available for consideration of such evidence, the Committee could not, without further investigation and inquiry, come to any definite conclusion, and as the subject-matter of the Bill is of such importance to the public it should be subjected to further inquiry during the next session of Parliament. The Committee therefore recommend that the Bill be not allowed to proceed. 25th October, 1935.

No. 67.—Petition of Gr. McGregor, of Invercargill, and 712 Others, and 63 Petitions of a Similar Nature, as per Schedule attached. Praying that the Commercial Trusts Amendment Bill be not proceeded with. I have the honour to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petitions should be referred to the Government for consideration.

Schedule.

25th October, 1935.

No. 168.—Petition of G. Pratt, of Palmerston North, and 8 Others. Praying that a minimum price be forthwith fixed for the sale of motor-spirits. I have the honour to report that as the petition deals with a matter of policy the Committee has no recommendation to make. A. D. McLeod, Chairman. 25th October, 1935.

Special Report. I have the honour to report that the Industries and Commerce Committee desires to place on record the valuable services rendered to the Committee by the Chairman, Hon. A. D. McLeod, whose courtesy, tact, and business ability has greatly assisted the harmonious activities of the Committee during the session; and it also desires that this resolution shall be recorded on the minutes of the Committee, and be reported to the House.
