KEPOETS. SLAUGHTERING AND INSPECTION AMENDMENT BII.L. The Agricultural, Pastoral, Stock, and Commerce Committee, to which was referred the abovementioned Bill, has the honour to report that it has carefully considered the same, and recommends that it be allowed to proceed with the amendments as shown on copy attached hereto. The Committee has the honour also to report that in its opinion— (1.) The Government should promote legislation to prevent unfair trading by freezing companies, shipping companies, and generally controlling the export of frozen meat. (2.) That the report of the United States Commission on the Meat Trust, said to be in (he hands of the Government, should be published and largely circulated. 6th December, 1918.

No. 101. —Petition of C. De Vere Tesciiemaker-Siiute, of Marlborough. Prayino for amendments in the regulations dealing with the commandeering of wool to establish the beneficial custom of issuing catalogues in. reference to prices. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee this petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration; that the Committee, having carefully considered the wool-growers' petition, is of opinion that'the issue of wool catalogues showing the prices realized would be of material educational and other advantages to wool-growers, and a convenience to wool-buyers in future operations; and that the charges for appeal on small lots of wool appear to be unduly high and deserve reconsideration. 7th December, 1918.
