GOVERNMENT HOUSE AND PARLIAMENT BUILDINGS (RETURN RELATIVE TO EXPENDITURE ON).

Return to an Order of the House of Representatives dated the 15th August, 1912. Ordered, " That there be laid before this House a return showing—(l) The cost of the new Government House, including purchase of additional land, &c. ; (2) the amount spent on the present Parliament House from the time it via< vacated by His Excellency the Governor to the present date; (3) the cost of the temporary residence for His Excellency the Governor at Palmerston North or elsewhere ; (4) the cost of repairing and adding to thflt portion of the Parliamentary Buildings not destroyed by fire on the old site ; (5) the amount paid to the contractor for work done on and for cancelling his contract for the erection of the new wing, Sydney Street; and (6) the estimated cost o( the present alterations now being made, including new foundations, but not taking into account any estimate of aotual buildings."—(Mr. Campbell.)
