The following extracts from the London Gazette, dated the 3rd April, 1901, are published for general information : — Captain G. H. Walker, Fourth New Zealand Eough Eiders, appointed to the Distinguished Service Order, for good services on the occasion of the capture of Boer guns by MajorGeneral Babington's column, dated the 24th March, 1901. Private Langham, Fourth New Zealand Eough Eiders, and Farrier-Sergeant G. Eouse, Sixth New Zealand Eough Eiders, have been granted the Medal for Distinguished Conduct in the Field.

They were met by a heavy fire from the gunners, Bumble's coat being shot through, and Drinnan's hat. They took the gun.
