LONG-DISTANCE TELEPHONING ON SUNDAYS (REGULATION RELATIVE TO).

Presented to both Houses of the General Assembly in accordance ivith the Provisions of Section 16 of " The Electric Lines Act, 1884."

Charges foe Long-distance Telephoning on Sundays.

BANFUBLY, Governor. OEDBE IN COUNCIL. At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-eighth day of February, 1899. Present: His Excellency the Governor in Council. Whbeeas by Order in Council dated the 26th day of July, one thousand eight hundred and ninetyseven, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the twenty-ninth day of July, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-seven, rules and regulations were made and fees fixed for the use of Government telephones in bureau stations, and whereas it is expedient to amend such rules and regulations, and alter such fees in the manner following: Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon him by "The Electric Lines Act, 1884," and of all other powers enabling him in this behalf, and acting with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby make the regulation contained in the Schedule hereto, and doth order that the same shall be read as part of the regulations set forth in the Schedule to the before-mentioned Order in Council, and doth further order and declare that this regulation shall take effect on and from the twenty-eighth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine. Schedule. The following are the charges, to be paid by the public for the use of Government telephones on Sundays for the purpose of conversing between (a) Dunedin and Christchurch, or (b) Dunedin and Invercargill, or (c) Napier and Wellington, or (d) Napier and Auckland respectively : — For a period not exceeding six minutes, 2s. 6d. ; and a further charge of 2s. 6d. for every additional six minutes or portion of six minutes.
