CENSUS OF NEW ZEALAND.

APRIL, 1896.

Presented to both Houses of the General Assembly in pursuance of Section 12 of " The Census Act, 1877."

Registrar-General's Office, Wellington, 4th June, 1896. The population of the colony according to the census of the 12th April last, as made up from enumerators' summaries, is shown in the following tables. Details have been carefully examined, and the figures given may be regarded as closely approximate to the exact population now being made up in this office from the household schedules. E.
