GAS COMPANIES IN THE COLONY (RETURN OF).

Return to an Order of the House of Representatives, dated 33rd July, 1889. Ordered, " That a return be laid on the table showing (1) the gasworks in operation in the colony, and where situated ; (2) owners of the same, whether private companies or municipal bodies; (8) price to consumers of gas supplied from each gasworks ; (4) amount of capital invested in the respective works ; (5) in the case of companies, capital of such companies respectively ; (6) average dividend paid during the past three years ; (7) dividends paid last year ; (8) bonuses, if any, paid to shareholders ; (9) amount of reserve fund standing to credit of companies, or other accumulations, which have not been distributed to shareholders."—(Mr. Fei.dwick.)
