LOSS SUSTAINED ON ACCOUNT OF RAILWAYS (RETURN SHOWING) DURING THE YEAR 1883.

Return to an Order of the House of Representatives, dated 22nd August, 1883. Ordered, " That there be laid upon the table a return showing the loss the colony has sustained for the financial year ending 31st March last upon account of each railway, section of railway, and branch lines throughout the colony, as indicated by the differences between the interest upon the cost of each line as above (calculated at 5 per cent.), ana the annual interest derived therefrom after payment of working expenses."— Mr. W. White.
