GOVERNMENT BANKING ACCOUNT, (FURTHER CORRESPONDENCE RELATING TO).
Presented to both Souses of the General Assembly by Command of His Excellency.
No. 1. The Superintendent, Bank of Australasia, to the Seceetaey to Cabinet. Bauk of Axisti-alasia, Sib, — Superintendent's Oflicc, Melbourne, June, 1876. I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your communication, No. 10, of the 17th ultimo, respecting the correspondence which has taken place between the New Zealand Government and this Bank's chief representative in that colony, in relation to the tenders lately called for the conduct of the Government banking business there. Tour full remarks, under their various numerical headings, have had my most attentive perusal, and I much regret that their general tenor should evince so hostile a feeling towards an institution which, for the last forty years, has conducted business operations with the several Governments of the Australian Colonies under the most amicable relations. I refrain from discussing the many points referred to by yon in Mr. Morrah's letter, as such a course would be now to little purpose, and would but serve to intensify the feeling which now exists on the part of the present Government of New Zealand towards this Corporation. I have, &c, G. S Cooper, Esq., Secretary to the Cabinet, D. C. McAETnire, Colonial Secretary's Office, "Wellington. Superintendent.
By Authority : Geoege Didsbury, Government Printer, Wellington.—lB76. Price 3d.]
