CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATION BOARD (ANNUAL REPORT FOR 1874-5.)

Office of the Civil Service Examination Board, Sib,— Wellington, 9th July, 1875. I have the honor to submit the following report of the proceedings of the Civil Service Examination Board during the financial year ending 30th June, 1875 : — DECEMBER 1874 EXAMINATION. Thirty candidates presented themselves for the Junior, and 12 for the Senior Examination. Of these, 26 passed the Junior Examination, and 10 the Senior. The names of those candidates who passed, placed in the order of merit, are as follow :—

Note.—-Ist, 2nd, 3rd = passed in Ist 2nd or 3rd Class ofMerit. N.P. = Not passed. - =Did not take up the subject. * The Candidate whose name is marked with an* passed his Examination in accordance with the proviso to clause 10 of the Regulations, which says,—" In respect of Cadets in the Engineer's branch of the Public Works Department, Plane Trigonometry may be substituted for Latin as a compulsory subject; but any Candidate availing himself of the exception ■will not be considered as having passed the Senior Examination iv respect of the other branches of the service."
