WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
Kaipaki.—The monthly meeting was held in the hall, Mrs F. Boyd presiding over a good attendance of members. Being the first meeting after Victory had been declared, the meeting opened with the National Anthem, followed by the Institute Song. Members remained standing for a moment’s silence in respect to the memory of the late Richard Thwaite, the younger son of Mr and Mrs T. Thwaite. of Kaipaki. who was killed recently on active service. Mrs A. Cowley, junr.. gave oer report on the annual council meeting held in Hamilton recently. Mrs Fisher gave the following quotation: "Sympathy is the key that fits the lock of any heart.” The roll call "Uses for a lemon gave various and instructive answers. Competition for the three best chrysanthemums was won by Mrs Fisher Best parcel of grocery for one shilling. Mrs Fisher 1. Mrs A. Cowley 2. The members took this opportunity to say farewell to Mrs R. Boyd, who is shortly leaving the district. The president, Mrs A. Goodwin, expressed regret at her depar--lure, and on behalf of members presented her with a beautiful shoulder spray and two bouquets Musical honours were accorded her. Mrs Boyd suitably replying. Afternoon tea was served bv the hostess. Mrs Fisher. The sales table did good trading. Mesdames A. Cowley and D, Mitchell being in charge. Fourteen soldiers’ parcels were packed.
