SCHOOL HOLIDAYS
TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Tuesday The opinion that they should cooperate whole-heartedly with the Government in the present difficult times is expressed by members of the Association of Heads of Registered Secondary Schools of New Zealand in a letter to the Minister oil Education, the Hon. H. G. R. Mason. The letter, which is signed by the honorary secretary of the association, Mr R. J. Richards, Christ College, Christchurch, is as follows:
“I have been directed by the executive of this association to write to you in connection with restrictions placed on railway travelling by pupils during the May holidays. We fully appreciate the problems that face the country. We recognise the fact that these restrictions would not be imposea without serious justification, and we are sure the Government, knowing how they will increase domestic difficulties for schools already in a difficult situation. will not continue them longer than is necessary. “We have been in touch with members of our association and the opinion has been strongly expressed that we should co-operate wholeheartedly with the Government in these difficult times and should express our willingness to do so. We wish to assure you. therefore, that we shall do everything we can to see that our pupils take these restrictions cheerfully and suffer as little as possible frGm them. I snouia be grateful if you will kindly convey the sense of this message to the Prime Minister and the Minister of Railways.”
