VEGETABLE PRICES
GOVERNMENT’S PROBLEM POSSIBILITY OF FIXATION (By Telegraph.—Press Association) AUCKLAND, Monday Speculation is rife concerning the Government’s intentions in dealing with the vegetable industry. Auckland growers and merchants were represented at a conference in Wellington last week when growers were asked to produce figures concerning the cost of production within a week. It is understood the Government intends to fix the maximum and minimum prices of all vegetables, although one suggestion made locally is that the State may purchase the ! crops outright and pay the guaranteed prices. It is also understood that the Government has under consideration a big scheme to increase the production of vegetables and develop dehvdration.
