ACTIVITY AT MATAIYIATA
Reviewing- the year in his annual report, the Chief or the Matamata Caledonian society, Mr W. G. John, said the membership had dropped owing to the war from a total of 132 to 92 members, but the net profit was slightly higher. During the year £i l 17s had been donated to the patriotic rund and £5 5s was donated to the soldiers’ presentation rund. The treasurer, Mr W. Ernslie, mentioned that the sociely was in a very sound positiun financially.

Wilson; treasurer, Mr W. Ernslie; chaplain, Rev. Murray Feist, 8.A.; ladk?s’ committee, Mesdarnes W. J. Stanley, J. A. Dobson, Crabb, McDonald, W. S. Wilson, Crabb; men’s 'committee, Messrs J. Birkett, W. Peddie, Couibrough, Crabb, Desmond, Dobson, Rpad sen.; auditor, Mr g. u. Griffiths.
