SOCIAL AND DANCE

HOME GUARD BENEFITS A successful social and dance was held in the Te Rapa Social Hall on Wednesday night. The function was arranged to raise funds for the Home Guard and the dancing and excellent programme presented were enjoyed by a large crowd. The hall had been appropriately decorated with a canopy of red, white* and blue streamers. At the back of the stage a large Union Jack had been hung and bowls of hydrangeas and dahlias had been artistically arranged along the front of the stage. Dance music was supplied by Miss A. Magner and Mr A. Police, and Mr R. Malcolm was master of ceremonies. The programme was as follows: Songs, Mr Colin Roskruge; conjuring, Mr A. McLaren; songs, Miss Des Liddy; humour, Mr David Reid.
