BOWLING NEWS
ROUND THE GREENS TOURNAMENTS AHEAD The Hamilton Bowling Club cancelled its full-rink tournament arranged for yesterday, owing to paucity of entries, only ten having been received. The Veterans’ Day, at Whitiora Club’s green, arranged for today, had to be postponed owing to the rain. The rain this morning must have been very welcome to greenkeepers, for most of the greens were very much in need of a thorough soaking. At Whitiora one green was just a sheet of water at 8 o’clock this morning, and as it soaks in it will have very beneficial effects. The Claudelands Club is holding a full-rink tournament on Saturday, March 1. The South Auckland Bowling Centre’s Champion of Champions pairs competition is to be brought to completion on Saturday, when the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final will be played on the Hamilton East Club’s green, play commencing at 9 a.m. The clubs with teams competing rn the quarter-finals are Putaruru, Frankton, Whitiora, Ngaruawahia, Paeroa.
