JUNIOR PHILATELISTS NEW BRANCH FORMED The inaugural meeting of the junior branch of the Waikato Philatelic Society was held last evening in the Library ante-room. There was an excellent attendance of both seniors and juniors. Mr C. R. Cooke presided. The resolution carried by the senior society that a junior club be formed was unanimously affirmed and seventeen members were placed on the roll. The election of officers resulted as follows; Chairman, Pat Taylor; vicechairman, Ray Roblin; secretary, David Nelson; treasurer, Fay Trevena; committee, Fay Trevurza, Edward Ross and Noel Fraser. It was decided to hold meetings on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month. The senior society decided to pay the initial expenses and to purchase the necessary books. Donations of cash and stamps were made by several senior members so that the new branch started under favourable circumstances. Mr Cooke gave a short address on the care and mounting of stamps and identification of perforations. He was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his address and the work he had done in promoting the new branch. Pat Taylor showed great aptitude as chairman. The teaching of the proper conduct of meetings and the rules of debate comprise one of the features of the syllabus of the new branch.
