THE HOMELAND SOCIETY
MEMBERS EXCHANGE NEWS The Homeland Society recently held its meeting in the supper room of St. Peter’s Hall, when Mrs T. Warren presided over a good attendance of women from England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales. Three new members were given a warm welcome. Letters received from the Homeland were read, the sympathy of the society being expressed to those whose kin are suffering hardships in the air raids. More parcels are to be sent to the soldiers. Competitions, community singing and afternoon tea concluded a happy and enjoyable afternoon. The next meeting will be held in St. Peter’s Flail on Thursday, October 24, at 2 p.m., when a warm welcome will be given to all interested in the society.
Among those present were:—Mesdames T. Warren, T. Barnett, J. Scott, A. Smith, J. Richardson, Somerfleld, Pascoe, Poole, Paddy, Coup, Whittaker, Tomlinson, Mitchell, Fleetwood, Hillary, Burnett, Alker, Stewart and Morley.
