GREECE PREPARING
ASSISTANCE FROM BRITAIN ITALIAN CHARGES DENIED (United Tress Assn.—Elec. Tef. Copyright) (Received August 23, 11 a.m.) ATHENS, August 22 The British spokesman said that if Greece resists the attack the British Navy and Air Force will immediately rush to its aid. The official news agency denies the allegation in the Albanian newspaper Tomori on August 21 that the Greek authorities some months ago organised armed bands for the persecution of Albanians. The news agency added that the whole population of Greece is most friendly towards Albania. GUARDING HARBOURS DEFENSIVE BOOMS PLACED ITALIAN PLANE DESTROYED (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) LONDON, August 22 Defensive booms have been placed at the entrances to the harbours of Athens and Salonika. An Italian aeroplane was shot down over an arms factory 30 miles from Athens. The Greek General Staff has decided to investigate on the spot.
