Freedom From Crime
At the opening of the Supreme Court session in Invercargill to-day, the sheriff, Mr A. E. Dobbie, reported to Mr Justice Kennedy that there were no bills or presentment to the grand jury, and presented His Honour with a pair of white gloves, symbol of the freedom of the district from serious crime. The judge congratulated Southland upon its freedom and said it was the first time in 10 years that there had been no criminal cases or sentences for the quarterly session.
