FURNITURE DAMAGED
LOAD STRIKES BRIDGE The low clearance of the railway bridge at the subway, Claudelands, which has brought consternation to truck drivers with high loads on several occasions, was the cause of a rather unusual mishap on Wednesday. A truck owned by Mr T. McClean, of Pukekohe. was loaded with furniture with insufficient clearance under the bridge. The load struck the bridge and the tip-gear broke, with the result that the back of the truck flew to the raised position. The furniture was damaged and some time elapsed before it could be unloaded to another vehicle. Motorists experienced some difficulty in passing the truck, which was loaded with the damaged furniture and parked in the middle of the road.
