LEASEHOLD LAND
OFFERED FOR HOUSING DOMAIN BOARD’S ACTION Because it has had difficulty in finding persons to take up land on leasehold, the Hamilton Domain Board decided at its meeting last night to offer land on these terms to the Housing Department. It was contended that although these were not the usual terms on which the department dealt, it might treat domain land differently. “At present there is great difficulty in getting people to take up leasehold sections in Hamilton,” said the chairman, Mr F. A. Swarbrick. "It will not do any harm to explore this avenue.”
The suggestion of approaching the department was put forward by Dr. G. W. Gower, who thought some arrangement could be made with the department as the board was practically a State institution.
