RISE IN WAGES
BRITISH RAILWAYMEN RETROSPECTIVE TO JANUARY 1 (omcial Wireless) (Received Feb. 10, 12.30 p.m.) RUGBY. Feb. 9 Additions of from Is 6d to 4s weekly for more than 500,000 railway workers are announced to-day. The general secretary of the Speculation has been aroused that as the rates are applicable to overtime and so on in many sections it would mean an extra 5s or 6s a week for adult males. The new rates are to be retrospective from January 1, and will absorb the cost of living additions payable from that date.
