LOSS OF THE SPHINX
54 CASUALTIES OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT (Omcial Wireless) (Received Feb. 10, 9.45 a.m.) RUGBY, Feb. 9 The Secretary of the Admiralty regrets to announce the following casualties from H.M.S. Sphinx, which was damaged by enemy air attacks on Saturday, February 3, and reported capsized while being towed to port on Monday: One officer killed, and four missing believed to be dead. Three ratings killed, and one died from injuries, and 45 missing presumed to be dead. COMMITTEE FORMED (United Press Assn.—E;ec. Tel.
