FASHION’S PALETTE

COLOURS FOR THE AUTUMN The new list of colours for the autumn this season I'eads rather like a collection of orders on a grocery list, states a Sydney writer. There is Burnt Sugar, a tan with a golden tint, which will be first favourite after the ever-smart . black, and Green Tea. which is exactly the shade of Chinese tea in pale yellow cups. Black Coffee is a revival of the gorgeous shade of very dark brown so beloved of the Victorians. Redberry is slightly deeper in toning than a hawthorne bud, and brightest of all is Legionnaire Red—clear and startling—which will be allied largely with black. Very new is Molyneux’s navy green, a green so dark that it almost masquerades as navy in some lights. Petunia is the new blue—very, very bright, with a suggestion of purple in it. Cloud grey is the colour of rainfilled clouds, and Pigeon Blue also has a hint of grey in it. Blackwine is similar to last year's blackberry shades, and Tunis Blue is dark blue verging into teal.
