JASPERS—BOWLING IVORY CHARMELAINE AND LACE A charming wedding, of wide interest in the Waikato, was solemnised at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. Paeroa, on January 11, when Grace, daughter of Mr and Mrs Bowling, of Paeroa, was married to Joseph Thomas, son of Mr and Mrs P. Jaspers, of Nelson. The Rev. R. D. McEwen officiated and the organist was Mr J. Rickard. The bride, who entered the church with her father, wore a handsome gown of ivory satin charmelaine and silk needlerun lace. The corsage featured a high cowl neckline of lace, and full box sleeves inset with lace. The skirt fell softly to form a long oval lace-trimmed train. A row of tiny satin buttons extended from the back of the neckline to the edge of the train. An embroidered tulle veil, which was worn over the face as she entered the church, fell softly from a coronet of orange blossom to form a second train. She wore a triple string of pearls and carried a shower bouquet of carnations, gypsophilla and maidenhair fern. Three Sisters Attend Three sisters attended the bride as bridesmaids. Misses Esma, Olive and Betty Bowling. They made a charming group in frocks of ivory silk net over satin. The frocks featured bodices ruched to heartshaped necklines, and caught with diamante clips, and short fully puffed sleeves caught up with crimson velvet bows. The skirts were twotiered and trimmed with true-lovers’ knots of satin ribbon and finished with a ruching of net at the hemline. Crimson velvet sashes encircled the waistlines. On their heads they wore short scalloped veils with topknots of toning gladioli. The bridegroom was attended by his brother. Mr R. Jaspers, as best man, and Mr J. Cheale was groomsman. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Victoria Tearooms. To receive her guests Mrs Bowling wore a black satin-backed crepe ensemble, with a black hat and accessories. She wore a shoulderspray of pink carnations. Mrs Jaspers, mother of the bridegroom, was wearing a figured blue Canadian crepe frock with a coat of clipper blue and accessories to tone. She carried a bouquet of charm dahlias and maidenhair fern. When Mr and Mrs Jaspers left on their honeymoon the bride was wearing a smart suit of tan bengaline with a hat and accessories to tone, and a skunk fur, the gift of the bridegroom. ROBERTS—KRUTZ BROCADED TAFFETA GOWN The wedding was celebrated in St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, New Plymouth, on Saturday last, of Muriel Krutz, youngest daugh- i ter of Mrs W. Knapman. of New Plymouth, and the late Mr Krutz, and Desmond Eaton Roberts, elder son of Mr and Mrs A. H. Roberts, : Te Awamutu. The Rev. Hender- j son, formerly of Te Awamutu, was | the officiating minister, and the wed- j ding music was supplied by Mrs E. | Matthews. The bride, who entered the church i with her stepfather, wore a lovely gown of white brocaded taffeta designed with a fitting bodice, a high neckline and puffed sleeves. The full skirt fell into a long circular train. The tulle veil, which formed a second train, was held in place by a top-knot of pink and blue cornflowers, and a sheaf of the same flowers was carried. Attending the bride were Miss Gladys Roberts, cousin of the bridegroom, and Miss Elsie Krutz, sister of the bride. They wore full-length frocks of white taffeta with wide circular skirts. The bodices feat- I ured square necklines, puffed sleeves j and pointed waistlines. They carried I muffs of pink charm dahlias and caps of the same flowers formed their : headdress. Mr lan McGechie, of Te Awamutu, | and Mr Reece Whyte, Hamilton, act- 1 ed as best man and groomsman respectively. Following the ceremony a recep - tion was held at the Chequers Tea- j rooms. To receive her guests Mrs Knapman wore a tailored costume of grey with navy accessories, and carried a posy of crimson rosebuds. Mrs Roberts wore a navy and rose ensemble. Her posy was composed of pink rosebuds and heather. The bride travelled in a navy pinstriped costume with matching accessories. Mr and Mrs D. E. Roberts will make their home in Te Awamutu.
