MARKET AT FFANKTON SHARP RISE RECORDED FAT SHEEP VERY FIRM Competition w ? as sharper for all classes of beef at the Frankton sale to-day, when cows and heifers advanced in value by at least £1 to £1 10s a head. The tops in the cow and heifer beef pens sold from £ll 4s to £l2 17s 6d, the best level of values realised in this department at the yards this year. Ox beef was also in sharp request, buyers paying from £l4 to £ls 10s a head for extra heavy prime sorts. Prime ox was quo-ted today from 34s to 38s a 1001 b, against 33s to 36s 6d last week. The beef entry today was a moderate one and quality showed an improvement. Fat sheep were penned in heavier numbers and here the market was fully firm, with rougher descriptions in better demand than last week. Fat pigs were also forward in increased numbers, and here the market showed a distinct improvement over last week, baconers selling from 63s to 84s against 66s and 77s last week.
