WEDDING

BURGESS—HUGHES The marriage of Mary Alicia, daughter of Mr and Airs W. W. Hughes of Manawaru and Leslie Albert, second son of the late Mr and Mrs A. Burgess, of Waiorongomai, took place at Christ Church, Manawaru, recently, Canon C. W. Turner ollieiating. Mrs K. Neeve, aunt to the bride, played the wedding music. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a magnolia satin frock, cut on slim-titting lines. The square neck was finished with faggoting and covered buttons trimmeu the back of the bodice. Her skirt was finished with a train over which fell her embroidered tulle veil, which was caught to the head by a halo of pearls and orange blossom. She carried a shower bouquet of while chrysanthemums, roses and maidenhair fern. -\lrs iv. Hughes was matron-of-hon-our, Miss J. Scott, of Uevonport and Misses Lucy and Mary Neeve were the bridesmaids. The nmtron-of-lion-our and Miss J. Scott wore blue frocks of novelty satin cut on similar lines, the corsage being gathered -to a heart-shaped neck. The sleeves, which came to points over the hands were full at the top and the skirts were slim-fitting. The Misses Neeve wore pink lacquered taffeta with frills and small blue bows, and their head-dresses were floral halos. They carried bouquets of blue and pkik flowers. Mr Eric Hughes, Manawaru, was best man and Mr Grant Goodfellow. Waihou, acted as groomsman. The reception was held in the Masonic Hall, Te Arolia, the guests being received by Mrs \V. \V. Hughes, who was wearing a prune-coloured frock, with a hat to tone and fox furs. She wore a shoulder spray of roses. When Mr and Mrs L. A. Burgess left on their honeymoon tour, the bride was wearing a navy striped suit, with a hat and accessories to match and a stole fur, the gift of the bridegroom. McLEAY—HANCOCK MAGNOLIA SATIN GOWN The marriage was solefnnised at All Saints Church, Matamata, on the afternoon of Saturday, June 24, between Eileen Rose, youngest daughter of Mrs E. Hancock, Hinuera, and Albert John, second son of Mr and Mrs T. AlcLeay, Matamata. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. F. Quintrell, and Mr P. Ingham presided at the organ. During the ceremony a solo was sung by Miss Una Alatcer. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr W. Hancock, wore a charming gown of magnolia satin, fashioned on slim-fitting lines, the back falling to form a Jong train. The bodice was tucked and finished with a spray of orange blossom. Her cream tulle veil was held in place with a topknot of lilies and was worn over the face on entering the church. She carried a bouquet of roses, carnations and maidenhair fern. She was attended by her two sisters, Mrs Ralph Settle and Mrs Alan Robinson, as matrons-of-honour. They were dressed alike in frocks of lettuce green stiffened lace, designed with

boleros of the same material, edged with velvet ribbon. Sashes of velvet ribbon encircled the waists and fell to the hem of the frocks. (Jn their heads they wore circular tulle veils held in with topknots of pink flowers. They carried bouquets of pink carnations and violets. The two little flowergirls, Edna and Margaret Mateer, cousins of the bridegroom, wore frocks of green stiffened net over taffeta banded with three rows of satin. They wore halos of violets in their liair and carried posies of violets edged with green pleated tulle. The bridegroom was attended by Mr \V. Connell as best man and Mr J. Lennon as groomsman. Mr R. Settle and Mr A. Robinson acted as ushers. The Reception Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the Rialto tearooms where the guests were received by the bride's mother, who was assisted by the mother of the bridegroom. Mrs Hancock wore a navy blue tailored suit with navy accessories and carried a bouquet of red roses, carnations and maidenhair fern. Mrs McLeay wore a tailored bottle green coat with green accessories to match and she wore a spray of golden spring flowers. The bride travelled in a nigger brown tailored suit.
