SAWMILL BURNED

LOBB COMPUTED AT £2OOO (By Telegraph.—Press Association) AUCKLAND, Wednesday Messrs G. and A. Odlin's log sawmill at Glen Eden was totally destroyed by fire in the early hours of this morning. The building w*as 100 feet square and contained 3000 feet of sawn timber, a portion of which was kauri on order to London. The loss is estimated approximately at £2OOO, and the mill was insured with the Alliance Office for £I3OO. Three-quarters of a million feet of timber in the yard was saved by the strenuous efforts of a bucket brigade.

The mill had a capacity of 10,000 feet daily and was working to the extent of 3500 feet.

Fourteen men are employed, but Messrs Odlin say they intend to rebuild immediately, and will keep their employees in work as far as possible.
