MAIL ROBBERY
THIEVES GET £4OOO IN GOLD TAKEN FROM REGISTERED BAG (From a Correspondent) MELBOURNE, April 10. Mystery surrounds the disappearance' of gold worth £4OO from the custody of postal officials. The gold was consigned from Bendigo to Melbourne by registered mail, but what happened to it after the mail was received at the railway station is not known. A watchman later found an empty bag in Little Bourke Street at the rear of the Post Office. It is understood that the gold parcel was insured.
