WAIKATO CHAMPIONSHIP NEW YEAR TOURNAMENT LARGE ENTRIES RECEIVED Good entries have been received for j the Waikato championship tennis tour- ! nament to be held at the Rostrevor | Street courts to-morrow, Monday and - Tuesday. Most entries have been secured for the men's handicap singles. 4 6 players taking part, while 35 pairs will compete in the men's handicap doubles. Twenty entries have been received for the men's championship singles and the same number for the doubles, while 12 have entered for the women’s singles, and 10 for the women’s doubles. In other years the tournament has been held at Easter, but owing to the unfavourable conditions that usually obtain then it was decided to hold the event earlier. Players are requested by the association to be at the courts at 9 a.m. each day, including Saturday. Luncheon will be available at the courts. Simister stated that on Christinas Eve a Maori named Murray approached Constable Molloy and the witness, stating that Peter was in his motor-car and refused to leave.
