Roach, Waikato champion, won tile men’s singles championship at the Rotorua Lawn Tennis Club’s annual open Christmas tournament, which concluded yesterday. Roach defeated B. Dold, also of Hamilton, 6—5, 6—l. 4—6, (i 5. Roach indicated from the start of the championship that lie would prove one of the best players. Dold also played well and Roach had to produce all he knew to secure Hie title in a four-set* match. There were no Hamilton players In Hie other duals contested yesterday.
