CLERICAL WORKERS
PAYMENT FOR HOLIDAYS DOUBLE RATES PROVIDED (Special to Times) AUCKLAND. Friday The Auckland Employers' Association has received advice from the Arbitration Court of an additional subclause in the northern industrial district clerical workers' award prescribing rates of pay for certain holidays. The holiday clause in the award reads as follows: "The holidays prescribed in the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, and its amendments, or the Factories Act, 1921-22, and its amendments, as the case may be, with the addition of Anniversary Day, shall be the holidays to be observed for the purpose of the award." The sub-clause now added reads:—• • d Subject- to the provisions of the Factories Act, where applicable, double-time rates shall be paid for all work done on any of the above-men-tioned holidays.” In a memorandum to aI! employers of clerical workers the Employers’ •Association points out that any workers employed on Anniversary Day must he paid* double time lor the time"worked in addition to the ordinary weekly
